    Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade has died at 23 years old following a year-long battle against cancer, his family announced on Friday.

    In a YouTube video entitled “so long geeks”, the father of the creator of the content shared a final message from his son to his subscribers.

    “Hello everyone, Technoblade is here,” began the message. “If you’re watching this. I am dead.”

    In the video, Technoblade, who has kept his identity secret, revealed that his real name was Alex. Technoblade thanked his fans for their support, securing merchandise and channel memberships and joked that his siblings were “going to college.”

    “If I had another hundred lives, I believe Technoblade would be my first choice again. Those were the best years of my life. I hope you enjoyed my writing, and that you found it funny. I wish you a long and prosperous life.

    In just under 10 years, Technoblade amassed nearly 11 million YouTube subscribers and 3.7 million Twitter followers as he shared his love for Minecraft, a game in which players can create virtual worlds out of blocks and develop their own stories. In August 2021, he took it public by telling his followers that he had been diagnosed with cancer. He shared the news by posting a video of himself playing Minecraft.

    Technoblade’s father claimed that Technoblade sent his final message eight hours before his death. In tears, Technoblade’s father described his son as “the most incredible child” anyone could ever ask for, and added: “I miss Technoblade.”

    The video was watched more than 19 million times, concluded with a statement from Technoblade’s family, which read: “This past year had several rough times for our son as he battled stage four cancer. He was never complaining and continued to use his mind’s logical approach to overcome what he knew was almost impossible odds. My son’s determination in this situation was a shining example for all of us who had the privilege to share it with. Thank you for sharing his journey and for doing the work he loved to do for his beloved fans.”

    Celebrities, fans, and fellow gamers have expressed their condolences on social media.

    YouTuber Ted Nivison remembered him as: “Effortlessly funny. Amazingly talented. Gone too soon. Rest easily, Technoblade.”

    TECHNOBLADE

    TommyInnit, another YouTuber with a huge following TommyInnit, another YouTuber with a huge following, wrote on Twitter: “Technoblade is a legendary figure. From being a huge fan, to being one of his friends, I can’t describe how thankful I am to have had the privilege of being in his life. I’m sure he’s mulling in heaven on how to defeat God.”

    Sarcoma Foundation of America sent a statement to CNN, paying tribute to Technoblade and offering its condolences to his family.

    Brandi Felser CEO of the charity, said in the statement: “Technoblade rallied his supporters to raise more than $500,000 to date to fund research into sarcoma. This allowed SFA to award research grants in Technoblade’s name. 360 degrees all the way around These efforts have left the legacy that will be passed on to the next generations.

    Felser declared that Technoblade will be recognized with the organization’s Courage Award, which is an annual honor given to those who motivate others to “create hope and a better lifestyle for the sarcoma patients” later in the year.
